McKinlee Kay Wenzel

I know everyone already knows McKinlee was born....but I thought I should update my blog and tell the story! :)

On February 21, 2013 we went to the hospital at 7AM! I was scheduled to be induced and that was the time they wanted me there. When we got there we got settled into our room and waited for them to hook me up to the pitocin to start my labor. Around 7:45 I was all hooked up and ready to go! Tim and I watched TV, played games on our phones/computer, and waited....and waited....by 11:30 they came in and checked me (for like the 3rd or 4th time) and I was still only dialated to 2cm. They called my doctor to have him come talk to me and give me my options. My doc wanted to send me home since I wasnt progressing much and didnt want to risk me having a c-section since I wasnt progressing. I called my mom and dad and told them (they drove out the night before to be there for the birth). I REFUSED to be sent home so I walked around the hospital for a good hour and had them check me again. I was dialated to almost 3cm by then. So I walked around some more and bounced on a ball and had them up the dose of the pitocin. By around 3ish (im guessing...wasnt really paying attention to the time) I was having HORRIBLE contractions, but my doc wouldnt break my water or give me the epidural until I was at least between 4 and 5cm. I asked them to check me again and FINALLY was at almost 5cm so my doc came in and broke my water. (I will NEVER let the doc break my water before I get the epidural again!) By the time I got the epidural I was at 7cm and having the strongest contractions you can get (they range from 0-90 on a scale and I was having them in the 90's) and had to sit super still to get the stupid epidural! By the time they had finished giving me the epidural I had them check me again. By now I was almost to 10cm and the epidural still hadnt kicked in. By the time I was ready to start pushing the epidural finally was working and we were ready to go! I'm pretty sure I only pushed for maybe 30 mins to and hour?? Not quite sure....but at 5:52pm McKinlee was here weighing at 6lbs 5oz and 20in! It was the best feeling ever to finally have my baby girl here! I only cried a little bit....lol. So grateful I had my parents there and for Tim helping me through all the horrible contractions and trying to comfort me when I was in tears!

My first time holding her :)
